HOW DO YOU GET RID OF MOSQUITOS?
When you reach out to Preventive Pest Control for professional people and pet-friendly mosquito control, we’ll begin by inspecting your property to locate mosquito resting and breeding sites and providing an initial service that targets adult mosquitoes and mosquito larvae, including:
- Installation of mosquito control stations
- Inspection & treatment of rain barrels, water troughs, koi ponds, and fish ponds (yes, our mosquito control products are safe to use in those areas!)
- If applicable, treatment of bushes, shrubs, non-bearing fruit and nut trees, plants, and other areas where mosquitoes rest and breed.
Every month May through October, we’ll return to re-treat your property, check on mosquito traps, and ensure that mosquitoes don’t have the chance to get comfortable on your property!
IN2CARE SYSTEM
The main part of our mosquito control program is the In2Care System. Many yards in Las Vegas are not habitable for mosquitos so we cannot effectively treat for them. That is one of the major benefits of this system.
It works by attracting the adult mosquitos and making them fly into the station. The adult can then lay eggs in the water inside of the station. While inside the station, the adult mosquito becomes covered in a special fungus that will kill her within 2-3 days. As the female mosquito flies around to other water sources to lay eggs, she leaves behind the fungus, turning those sources into treatment areas. Once a water source has that fungus, it will kill the larvae before they can become adult mosquitoes.
This method is very effective and very safe. The active ingredient is only that fungus, of which a derivative is approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) for use in drinking water in certain parts of the world. This makes it pet- and people-friendly and will not affect birds or fish.
